Clientlify started when a caterer got fed up managing events from a spreadsheet. We built the tool we always wished existed.
The Spreadsheet That Started It All
Our founder, Marcus, ran a catering company in San Diego for eight years. He was great at the food — not so great at the paperwork. Leads got lost. Invoices went out late. Review requests never happened. And the spreadsheet he used to track it all became a monster nobody wanted to open.
He looked at the software on the market and found one of two things: generic project management tools that needed massive customization, or enterprise systems built for hotel chains, not a 10-person catering crew.
So he built Clientlify — starting with exactly the features his own business needed, and working with real caterers, event planners, and party vendors to make sure every feature solved a real problem.
